        Release Time:2023-06-06 13:41

Dear Preparatory International Students:

If you have decided the international education and are about to enroll in an international school in China this autumn, congratulations! You will gain richer growth experiences on this track and eventually transform into an independent and diverse aspiring youth! At the same time, choosing an international direction means that your academic career will also start a new chapter of sprinting towards world-renowned schools.
But entering international high schools from traditional education, many students must have had concerns such as not understanding all English teaching, not learning professional vocabulary, not keeping up with the teacher's progress, and not adapting to the teaching methods...
Is there any way to resolve these potential difficulties in advance?
Of course there is! If you want to quickly adapt to an all English environment and seamlessly connect with your international high school life, or if you want to experience the learning and life of international schools, then come to Pegasus! In this summer vacation, Qingdao Pegasus School will launch the "2nd Camp Course" international school connection course.
Students will experience relevant subjects in advance, master subject knowledge, and change their learning habits under the guidance of foreign teachers. In authentic international teaching, project-based learning is used to quickly enhance the learning ability of English courses, while gradually enhancing academic knowledge and vocabulary reserves, providing a huge first mover advantage for the subsequent formal course learning.

1.Project Introduction
The English Language and Culture course project aims to prepare students for language and cultural learning. They will learn how to learn effectively and provide abundant opportunities to improve their English proficiency. The one week course includes "English as a Foreign Language" and "Expert Course" - learning projects covering different interests and topics for students to choose from.
2.Teaching Target:
Based on past experience, students who enter international schools generally face the following difficulties:
Difficulty 1:
Insufficient English learning ability and reading ability, mainly reflected in the gap in English reading speed and comprehension ability. For international school students who need to learn in English, vocabulary is the most basic requirement for them to truly start learning. Students whose English proficiency reaches or approaches the grade they are reading need to be able to efficiently absorb and process information while reading. Children with poor English reading abilities may need to put more effort into reading comprehension.
Difficulty 2:
Transformation of learning system. Due to the integration of international schools with European and American education systems, the requirements for students in international schools are generally very different from those in domestic schools. In terms of academic performance, the final score of a student for a certain semester generally consists of several aspects such as daily quizzes, homework scores, presentations, class performance, mid-term exam scores, and final exam scores. Moreover, the methods and requirements of homework are very different from the requirements of domestic classrooms. Many students may not achieve ideal grades due to their lack of adaptation, and they also need to prepare in advance.
Difficulty 3:
Critical thinking ability is a way for humans to process information, and most people receive information in a sponge like manner. This way, the information they receive is mostly consumed without thinking; Critical thinking, on the other hand, is a "gold rush in the sand" that involves analyzing, reasoning, questioning, and thinking to screen and digest information. It can grow more structured, pure, and reliable knowledge, which is crucial for students' learning after enrollment.
In response to the above issues, we can help children achieve the following teaching objectives:
1.
Overcome Language Barrier
Make sufficient preparations for students to enter international courses, accumulate a foundation, master sufficient academic English skills, reduce academic pressure, and comprehensively improve their English listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities. Able to meet the English requirements of AP and other pre courses for various professional courses.
2.
7 major theme project-based learning courses. The adapted project-based learning integrates international mainstream STEAM courses, adds STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) courses that are suitable for Chinese children based on the story background, making the learning more interesting and informative! Through project-based learning, children can truly experience the power of science, cultivate their curiosity and exploration spirit towards science from an early age, and help them discover more hidden hobbies and skills. By completing various learning tasks and games, children's willpower, self-confidence, language expression, critical thinking, independent problem-solving, self-management ability, and team spirit will be stimulated.
3.Preparation and transition of disciplines. According to the requirements of the admission course, targeted reinforcement should be carried out. Connecting courses provide students with extensive training in English thinking patterns, allowing them to learn various subjects using English expression habits within a limited time frame. They help students understand and strengthen the content of international courses before entering school, improve their English listening, speaking, reading speed, and English writing skills, effectively connect with the requirements and progress of various subjects in international courses, and help children transition smoothly from the system.

Strengthen logical and critical thinking abilities. For students who have already attended international schools, it is necessary to strengthen their logical and critical thinking abilities in English, identify and fill in weak subjects, teach students according to their aptitude, and improve their GPA scores.

Cultivate self-learning and teamwork skills. Connecting courses are more about guiding students to actively seek information and resources, independently completing academic tasks in groups, which is also a key aspect of the international education model. In addition, a variety of sports activities will run through the entire project period, and children will sweat and gain friendship in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
3.Target Students
Students in the second/third year of junior high school within the system are preparing to apply for international schools; 2. New students who have been admitted to international schools; 3. Students who are interested in international schools and want to gain an understanding and experience.
