Qualifications:
BA English Studies (Leeds);
MA English Literature (Nottingham);

MA Education: Teaching and Learning (Sheffield)

Mr. Matthew is an English teacher from the UK who comes to us with over 10 years of overseas teaching experience, having spent the majority of that time having worked in China.  Through this time, he has developed a deep appreciation for cultural and linguistic diversity and prefers to work in student-centered environments because those conditions offer a stronger platform for transformative learning, learning through past experiences and deeper critical insight as they engage with new perspectives.

Working in the subject, he expects students to communicate their intellectual ideas and own perspectives on life and grow to be comfortable with developing their own academic voice and interrogating various assumptions related to real-life issues. At the heart of his philosophy is to nurture each and every student, ensuring that they can develop to be confident, resilient learners able to practice higher level thinking skills, emboldened by a well-supported education that has encouraged students to act decisively and seek out support tools so they can be knowledgeable, principled and caring contributors of the world.

Mr. Matthew is greatly enthusiastic about the year ahead, and looks forward to the contributions that new students can make. Working with the school motto, students will continue to “be inspired” by all that is offered to them through their time at the school and will be shining examples of true men and women who give their very best to the school and the wider world
