【Pegasus Community Service】A Second Visit to Tongxing Special Education School

        Release Time:2016-11-15 10:22

Friendship Continues

Making new friends is one of the greatest things that can happen. As the saying goes, “We don’t meet people by accident. They are meant to cross our path for a reason.” That’s part of the passion why we’ve kept visiting Tongxing Special Education School, where Pegasus students meet and hang out with their new friends.

We arrived in front of their school at 2PM Saturday, and some of their kids were waiting for us by the gate. Someone old, someone new. We smiled, shook hands, and hugged each other. It feels like they were welcoming friends from a long time ago. Our students were passing stickers with the Pegasus logo to their kids, and made them members of the Pegasus family as well.

In addition, some students brought donations for their kids, including fruits, milk, toys, bedding, winter clothes, and children’s books.

The Show Time
Like last time, Pegasus students also brought music performances and games. Lucy and Eleanor played the piano, Shirley played the flute, Dennis and Jack, Claire and Vanessa sang duets respectively, Tom, Jerry, and Kelvin sang in a trio. Meanwhile, their kids showed the singing talent as well. The playground was filled with tremendous laughter, joy, and happiness.

Then by the end of the party, Pegasus students helped distribute snacks and fruit to their friends.

A visit to the farm and time to say Goodbye
After seeing each other’s performance, kids from Tongxing were eager to show us the campus, including their classrooms, dorms, the music room, art room, as well as the little farm. Mrs Hannah told me that she believes it is essential for kids to learn some life skills, so they can make a living in the future. Thus besides the regular academic courses, teachers also teach them how to raise chickens, grow vegetables, or do some woodshop work.

All kids were enjoying the lovely sunshine, the gentle breeze, and nature. True friendship was built and developed through chasing each other, holding hands, and feeding dogs together.

Time flies, and it was time to say goodbye to our friends. We hope to see you soon and wish our friendship will grow and last forever.

Let’s share part of the poem Friendship is Like a Flower by Regina.

Friendship is like a flower,

Glowing in its glory,
Each and every seed,
Telling its own story.

As each flower blooms,
And then continues to grow,
More of its strength and knowledge,
Continues to show.

And like a garden,
It blooms much more fair,
When carefully tended,
By those who care.

Once in a while,
You come across a friend,
Who is as beautiful as a flower,
With a good heart to lend.
